About Snake

Snake is the classic arcade game: steer a growing snake around a 20 × 20 board to eat food. Each piece of food adds a point and makes the snake one cell longer. Running into a wall or into the snake's own body ends the game.

Pick Slow, Normal, or Fast. Steer with the arrow keys or WASD, swipe on the board, or use the on-screen buttons. The game pauses when you switch tabs, and your high score for each speed stays in this browser.

Frequently asked questions

Where is my high score saved?

In this browser's local storage only, one high score per speed. It is never uploaded, and clearing site data removes it.

Can I play on a phone?

Yes. Tap the board to start or pause, then swipe on it or use the direction buttons below it to steer. Scrolling is blocked while you swipe on the board.

Do the walls wrap around?

No. The walls are solid, so touching the edge of the board ends the game, as in the classic version.

Eat the food to grow and score. Hitting a wall or your own body ends the game.
