The Background Remover cuts the main subject out of a photo, such as a person, a product, or a pet, and replaces the background with transparency or a solid color. A slider compares the original with the result, and an Erase and Restore brush fixes any edges the AI missed.
It runs the RMBG-1.4 segmentation model by BRIA AI with Transformers.js and ONNX Runtime directly in your browser. The model is downloaded once from this site and kept in the browser cache, and your image is never uploaded.
Is my image uploaded to a server? No. The AI model runs in your browser, and your image and result stay on your device. The model and its runtime (about 70 MB together) are downloaded from this site the first time and kept in the browser cache for later visits.
What are the limits? One PNG, JPEG, or WebP image at a time, up to 50 MB and 25 megapixels. The model runs on a single CPU thread, so removal usually takes 5 to 30 seconds and can take longer on phones. Fine details such as hair or glass may need touching up with the brush.
Which formats can I download? PNG and WebP keep transparency. JPEG has no transparency, so a transparent background is saved as white. Results are saved at the original resolution with the photo's orientation applied, and the original metadata is not copied.
Which AI model does it use, and can I use the results commercially? It uses RMBG-1.4 by BRIA AI, run with Transformers.js and ONNX Runtime. BRIA's license for RMBG-1.4 allows non-commercial use only; commercial use of the model requires an agreement with BRIA AI. Check that license before using results commercially.
