The Temperature Converter shows one temperature in several scales at the same time. Choose the scale you are converting from, keep the scales you need on your list, and every row updates as you type. Any row can become the new source with one click.
It supports Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin, Réaumur, and Rankine, accepts negative values, and rejects anything below absolute zero. Reference points such as freezing and boiling water fill in the value for you. Everything is calculated in your browser.
How are the temperatures converted?
Every value is converted through kelvin with the exact definitions: K = °C + 273.15, °F = °C × 9/5 + 32, °Ré = °C × 4/5, and °R (Rankine) = K × 9/5. Results are rounded to two decimals.
Why does °R mean different things?
Internationally, °R is Rankine. Indonesian textbooks use °R for Réaumur, so the Indonesian page writes Réaumur as °R and Rankine as °Ra, while the English page uses °Ré for Réaumur.
Can I enter negative or very low temperatures?
Yes. Negative values work in every scale, but nothing can be colder than absolute zero (0 K or −273.15 °C), so lower values show an error instead of a result.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. Conversions run in your browser and nothing you enter is sent anywhere. Only your list of scales is saved, in this browser's local storage.
