The Video Trimmer & GIF Maker cuts one part of a video and saves it as a new video or an animated GIF. Pick the start and end with the sliders, type exact times, or set them from the current playback position, then preview the selection before exporting.
Fast mode copies the original streams, so the clip keeps its quality and is ready in seconds. Precise mode re-encodes to MP4 for a frame-exact cut, and GIF mode builds an optimized palette with your chosen frame rate and width. Everything runs in your browser with ffmpeg.wasm.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. The video is read and processed in your browser with ffmpeg.wasm, and nothing is kept after the page closes. The video engine itself (about 32 MB) is downloaded once from this site.
What are the limits?
One video up to 500 MB at a time, and GIFs of up to 30 seconds. Processing uses a single CPU thread, so precise trims and GIFs of long or high-resolution clips can take several minutes, especially on phones.
Which formats are supported?
You can open MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM, MKV, and AVI files. Fast mode keeps the original format (AVI becomes MP4), precise mode exports MP4 with H.264 and AAC, and GIF mode exports an animated GIF without sound.
Why does a fast trim start slightly early?
Fast mode copies the video without re-encoding, so it can only start at a keyframe. Use precise mode when the cut must start on an exact frame.
What software does this tool use?
It uses ffmpeg.wasm, a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg licensed under GPL-2.0-or-later. Its source code is available from the ffmpeg.wasm and FFmpeg projects.
